2025 – Here We Go!

The 2025 season started back in the fall of 2024. Every February we count down to our ‘reopening date’.  This year it is Monday, February 17th.  The past six weeks have been filled with planting crops, receiving retail supplies such as pottery, fertilizers, seeds and more. Planning the garden shop layout, glasshouse displays for houseplants and so much more.

Let’s check out what is going on as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Planting Crops

At the end of January, we start to plant our perennials, all 16 + thousands of them!  The first crop of geranium plugs is planted.  These need time to ‘root up’ so they are ready to transfer to our patio pots and hanging baskets in March.  The production team creates ‘recipes’ the previous fall and once the geraniums are ready to transfer, all the other plug flowers will arrive as well. Our planting crew keeps pace with the timeline of each week’s planting.

Houseplants and Pottery go hand in hand

An ever-changing oasis of displays in the glasshouse to welcome a new crop of houseplants, succulents as well as herbs. New houseplants arrive just in time for our reopening date.  So, when you stop in, you will be thrilled to see new varieties, succulents and cactus.  In October is when we order our pottery for the new season.  The houseplant size pottery arrives in January, this way we have it all priced and on display when you come in to look at houseplants.  The glass house is a warm and inviting place to come, hang out, listen to a soothing fountain and sit on a bench while we wait out the winter months.

What are ‘Hardgoods’?

Hardgoods are what we refer to as the garden supplies, trellis’, fertilizers, insecticides, garden gloves and so much more.  Again, we ordered all of these in the fall of the previous year.  Hardgoods are arriving now, and we will have a full selection for our customers this spring.  In the months ahead, we will share good information about the supplies, fertilizers, and other hardgoods that we carry here at Creek Side.

Garden Shop and Boutique

While the retail store has been closed it makes it a perfect time to spruce up the garden shop.  A fresh coat of paint makes a huge difference!  We have expanded the garden décor space with even more outdoor pottery, fountains, bird baths and garden art.  The boutique will still have its special charm. Candles, towels, jewelry, hats and more.

In February, the garden shop is still a little thin with products awaiting orders to arrive, but it is fresh and inviting and promises to shape up with fun garden gifts soon.

Seeds and Seed Supplies

2025 Seed packs have arrived, ready to start planning your garden?  Botanical Interest is a Colorado seed company that we have carried since the beginning.  Seed starting supplies are also ready for sale along with bags of our potting soil from ProMix.
